It is estimated that at least 240 million Americans  have access to the Internet through their personal computers. The worldwide web is expected to reach 730 million households by the year 2004.

When we merge these statistics with gaming revenues the Internet only accounts for a fraction of the revenues studied, however it remains the fastest growing segment of the overall gaming market. Revenues from Internet gaming in 1998 were estimated at $651 million, which was to double the estimate from the previous year. It is estimated that gaming revenues derived just from the Internet gaming venues will exceed $2 billion by the year 2000 and $5 billion by 2003. The integrated interactive gaming and wagering (network gaming terminals, lotteries, Internet, telephone) revenues will far exceed that amount.
